Texas Farm Credit, a rural lending cooperative, recently made a $10,000 donation to Camp Blessing to support their purpose of providing help and hope to people of all abilities through Christ-centered camp experiences.
Each year since 2018, Texas Farm Credit has held its employee retreats at Camp Blessing. The 158-acre facility outside of Brenham, Texas offers a large pavilion outdoor meeting space, cabin lodging, renovated indoor meeting spaces, and accessible outdoor recreation amenities perfect for groups to gather and bond.
“We’ve enjoyed getting to know the folks of Texas Farm Credit,” said Camp Blessing Executive Director Greg Anderson. “This generous donation will go a long way towards creating a haven for campers of all ability levels to experience unconditional love, unmatched acceptance, and unbelievable fun during the best week of their lives at camp all while experiencing the tangible love of Christ.”
Camp Blessing is an award-winning summer camp designed for children and young adults with physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities to experience a week-long residential, barrier-free camp surrounding them with love, acceptance, and fun. They are one of the few camp ministries in the country offering all of the traditional summer camp activities customized for full participation of all levels of ability, including wheelchair, crutch, and walker users. Camp Blessing campers participate in a gamut of activities, including horseback riding, archery, canoeing, fishing, swimming, ropes course, zip line, crafts, variety show, sports, water games, and more.
This donation is part of Texas Farm Credit’s Passion Forward initiative which aims to give back 2% of their annual net income to local, charitable organizations each year. Through that program, Texas Farm Credit matches all employee donations dollar for dollar up to $150 annually. The employees of Texas Farm Credit joined efforts to personally donate $5,000 which was then matched by the association.
“We feel passionate about Camp Blessing because of their mission and the wonderful people we’ve met over the years,” said Jodi McManus, Texas Farm Credit Organizational Development Specialist. “Through time spent there during our association retreats, our employees have become personally invested in helping Camp Blessing succeed in offering a life-changing ministry.”
