Texas Farm Credit recently recognized three retiring members of its Board of Directors, James Dawley, David Henneke and David Cannon, during the Robstown branch’s annual customer appreciation dinner at the Texas State Aquarium.
The annual dinner brings together Texas Farm Credit stockholders, customers, directors and employees for an evening of fellowship and appreciation. As part of this year’s event, Texas Farm Credit honored Dawley, Henneke and Cannon for their leadership, guidance and service to the customer-owned cooperative.
Dawley and Henneke were in attendance and were presented with plaques during the dinner. Cannon, who was unable to attend, is also retiring from the board and is being recognized for his contributions.
“James Dawley, David Henneke and David Cannon have each brought valuable perspective, integrity and a deep understanding of rural communities to our board,” said Mark Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Texas Farm Credit.
“Their leadership has helped guide Texas Farm Credit through growth and change while keeping our cooperative focused on the members and communities we serve. We are grateful for their commitment and wish them the very best in retirement.”
Dawley, a resident of the Mexia, Texas area, has served on the Texas Farm Credit Board of Directors since 2003. Born and raised on a farm and ranch in Honest Ridge in Limestone County, Dawley continues to operate a cow/calf operation in Limestone and Freestone counties and owns and operates a hay operation. In addition to his service to Texas Farm Credit, he has been active in numerous agricultural organizations, including the Limestone County Farm Bureau, the Farm Service Agency for Limestone and Freestone counties, and Limestone County Young Farmers. He is also a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and the Houston Livestock Show Area Go-Texan Committee, supporting programs that promote agriculture and invest in area youth.
Henneke, of Alice, Texas, has served on the Texas Farm Credit Board of Directors since 2005. A retired investment advisor with more than 20 years of banking experience, Henneke brought a valuable financial perspective to the board throughout his tenure. His leadership and steady guidance have helped support the cooperative’s mission to provide reliable credit and financial services to farmers, ranchers, rural landowners and agribusinesses across Texas.
Cannon, of Tyler, Texas, joined the Texas Farm Credit Board in 2024 and has contributed experience as both a business owner and agricultural producer. He is president and owner of Cannon Steel, a family-owned business he has led for 44 years. He and his wife, Noemi, also own and operate East Texas Cattle, a Brangus and coastal hay operation, and raise purebred poultry. Cannon is a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and serves as a board member of Cannon Steel.
Texas Farm Credit’s Board of Directors plays an important role in representing the interests of the cooperative’s members and helping guide the association’s long-term direction. Through their service, Dawley, Henneke and Cannon have contributed to the cooperative’s continued focus on agriculture, rural communities and the people who make both strong.
Texas Farm Credit extends its sincere appreciation to Dawley, Henneke and Cannon for their service and wishes them and their families the best in retirement.
